Rev. Barney Ray McClure, 68, Pastor of the New Life Church of God in Mt. Sterling, KY was called to Glory on February 23, 2012. Rev. McClure was born in 1943 in Powell County, KY to the late Otis and Learline McClure. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired supervisor from Leggett and Platt, Winchester, KY. He was an Ordained Minister in the Church of God based in Cleveland, TN. He began his first pastoral assignment in 1989 at the Hazel Green Church of God, Hazel Green, KY. In 1995 he transferred to the New Life Church of God, Mt. Sterling, KY and remained there until the time of his death. Rev. McClure was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jackie Thacker and one sister, Betty Jean McClure. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Frances Anderson McClure of Mt. Sterling, KY; one daughter, Angela Wells (Ray); one son, Dustin Ray McClure; one Grandson, Cody Ray Wells all of Clay City, KY; three sisters, Lorena Fugate, Dorothy Brewer, and Freda Hamilton all of Clay City, KY; three brothers, JD McClure of Clay City, KY; Wayne McClure of Mt. Sterling, KY; and Bill McClure of Jeffersonville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved members of the New Life Church of God. Visitation will be held at the New Life Church of God, 11 N. Queen St., Mt. Sterling, KY on Sunday, February 26, 2012 5:00PM - 9:00PM. Funeral services will be held at the New Life Church of God on February 27, 2012 at 11:00AM with graveside services immediately following at the Eaton Cemetery in Clay City, KY. Pallbearers are Marvin Corcoran, Dustin McClure, Ray Proffitt, Rodney Easterling, Brent Murphy, and Tim Sexton. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenny Fugate, Rev. Sammy Faulkner, Chuck Agee, Rev. Jeffery Simpson, Rev. Conley Tirey, and Carlie Bellamy. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Douglas Lester, Rev. William Morgan, Rev. Ed Toler, Rev. Willie Gordon, and Rev. Ike Sams. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the New Life Church of God, Disabled American Veterans or St. Claire Hospice. Arrangements under the direct care of Coffman Mortuary Parlor.
