Richard Earl Butcher, Sr. "Butcherman", 64 of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was born on July 15, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James William and Hattie Mae Redmond Butcher.
"Butcherman" was a Christian and a Mt. Sterling native. He worked for Atlas Moving and was a volunteer fire fighter for Montgomery County Fire & EMS. He enjoyed watching television, especially western movies, Andy Griffith, soap operas, Young and the Restless, NFL Football games and other sporting events. Richard loved spending time with his friends and family and they will miss him dearly.
He is survived by one son, Richard Earl Butcher, Jr. of Mt. Sterling; one brother, James William Butcher, Jr. (Tracy) of FL; three sisters, Hattie Paige Oldham (Charles Hudson), Pauline Butcher and Mary Ann Butcher (Stanley Davis) all of Mt. Sterling and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by one daughter, Francesca Mae Martin and one brother, Roger Allen Wright.
Funeral will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 1:00PM. Visitation will be held prior from 11:00AM-1:00PM. Both will be held at KEAS Tabernacle C.M.E. Church in Mt. Sterling with Reverend Lamont Johnson officiating. Committal to follow at Olive Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Ronnie Potts, Larry Henderson, James Taul, Lonnie Bradshaw, Keith Smith and Charles E. Crook.
Honorary Pallbearers: Claude Garrett, George Washington, Booker T. George, Christopher Smith and George Garrett and Tim Dennis.
