Roger Haydon Jones

Roger Haydon Jones, 78, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 20, 2021 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester.  He was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky on May 5, 1943 to the late Oliver and Dorothy Warner Jones.

Roger was a resident of Montgomery County for fifty-six years following his move from Bath County.  He was a member of Sugar Grove Christian Church, a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from the maintenance department at the Montgomery County Regional Jail.  Roger was a people person with a peaceful temperament, he enjoyed; church, working, camping, animals, mowing, lending a helping hand by driving the Amish and watching his grandson drag race.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Roger is survived by his two loving sons; Darren Jones (Angie) of Mt. Sterling and Greg Jones (Kathy Wilson) of Mt. Sterling; five grandchildren; Hailee Reed of Spain, Hannah Jones (Trevor Rosania) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Hayden Jones (Savana) of Mt. Sterling, Parker Jones of Mt. Sterling and Alexis Jones of Mt. Sterling; one great grandson; Carter Rose of Mt. Sterling; two brothers; Ronnie Jones (Linda) of Ashland and Bobby Jones of Owingsville; one sister; Faye Warren of Lexington; brother-in-law; Steve Schooler (Kathy) of Mt. Sterling.

In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by his wife; Bonnie Schooler Jones; brother; Edward Lee Jones.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021.  Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM - 12:00PM, both will be held at Sugar Grove Christian Church, 3841 Stepstone Road, Owingsville, Kentucky. Committal will follow at Jones Cemetery, 2201 Stepstone Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.  Pastor Francis Nash will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Greg Jones, Hayden Jones, Gary Miller, Dale Miller and Gabe Miller.
