Rollie Elwood Short

Rollie Elwood Short, a beloved farmer and cherished member of the Jeffersonville community, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born on January 21, 1938, in West Liberty, Kentucky, to the late Arnold Short and Bessie Gibson Murphy.

Rollie was known for his lifelong dedication to agriculture, spending countless hours tending to his vegetable garden and overseeing the operations of his own sawmill. He had a deep appreciation for the natural world, finding joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasure of sitting on his front porch, soaking in the beauty of his surroundings.

A true animal lover, Rollie shared many happy years with his beloved dogs, who brought him companionship and joy throughout his life. His greatest pride and joy, however, came from his family. Rollie treasured the moments spent with his great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love and laughter that will endure for generations Rollie also enjoyed winding down with a good television show.

Rollie is survived by four sons, David Short (Marilyn), Eddie Short, Richard Short (Barbara), and Rand Short (Tammy); grandchildren, Joe Short (Jennifer), James Short, Lee Anne Short and eight additional grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; brothers, Charles "Chuck" Murphy and Jessie Murphy.

In addition to Rollie's parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Risner Short; brothers, Woodrow "Woodie" Murphy, and Raleigh "R.W." Murphy.

Funeral service to be held at Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 12:00PM. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at the same location from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Burial will be at the Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery. Pastor Tommy Evans will be officiating.
