Sylvia Townsend Willoughby

April 26, 1949 — February 28, 2013

Sylvia Townsend Willoughby, 63, of Jeffersonville, died Thursday afternoon, February 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born on April 26, 1949 in Menifee County to the late Curtis and Lissie Banks Townsend.

Sylvia was a resident of Montgomery County having moved from Powell County fourteen years ago. She was a member of the Holiness Church of God, a homemaker who enjoyed making candy and cooking, and she delighted in her favorite pastime of spending time with her grandchildren. Sylvia, who had a heart of gold, was a foster parent for many years. She will be truly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include; her husband of fourteen years, Lenzie Willoughby of Jeffersonville; son, William Jacob Halsey (Cheyenne) of Bath County; two daughters, Amy Snowden (Josh) of Mt. Sterling and Lana Sargent (John) of Morgan County; stepson, Jeffery Willoughby of Mt. Sterling; stepdaughter, Joyce Mays of Mt. Sterling; two brothers, Billy Townsend (Dee) of Fleming County and Clifford Townsend of Morgan County; sister, Mary Patrick (Wallace) of Middletown, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Sara Sargent, Jacob Sargent, Jacob Snowden, Abby Snowden, Jaxon Snowden, William Halsey, Emily Halsey, Austin Willoughby, Zoe Willoughby, Tabitha Bellamy, Brandon Willoughby, Haley Willoughby, and Jeffery Willoughby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emmabelle Beard and Donna K. Brewer; a stepson, Willard Willoughby.

Pallbearers: John Sargent, Josh Snowden, William Halsey, Greg Allen, Joey Allen, and Wayne Patrick.
