Thomas "Kelly" Murphy, 57, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday evening, July 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on October 8, 1960 to the late Joseph "Teddy" and Mary Evelyn Conyers Murphy.
Kelly was a member of Freedom Church and Senior Vice President of Whitaker Bank in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed a long career in banking that began at the age of 18. Kelly saw the good in others considering his handshake and word to be bond. A proud Mt. Sterling native, he was passionate about his community, church family and the Montgomery County Football program. He also enjoyed coaching football, history, fishing, and shooting sporting clays. Kelly will be dearly missed by his family, friends and our community.
Survivors include; his beloved wife of 29 years, Barbara Toy Murphy of Mt. Sterling, two sons Joseph "Scott" Murphy and Thomas "Connor" Murphy of Mt. Sterling, one brother-in-law John Toy (Tonia) of Mt. Sterling, one sister-in-law Rebecca Murphy of Mt. Sterling, three nephews, Trevor Toy, Trent Toy and Travis Toy all of Mt. Sterling, one niece Rachel Book (Scott) of Versailles, mother-in-law Phyllis Toy of Mt. Sterling, his special friends Pastor VP Palmer (Allison) and David Carter (Kristi) both of Mt. Sterling and his faithful dogs Chloe and Karli. He is also survived by the community of Mt. Sterling, in particular his Freedom Church family and football family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother "Critt" Murphy and his father-in-law Bobby Scott Toy.
Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 11:00AM. Visitation will be from 9:00AM - 11:00AM, both at Freedom Church in Mt. Sterling. Pastor VP Palmer will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to "Pave the Way" at Freedom Church. There will be donation envelopes at the church or you may donate online at https://freedomchurchky.nm-secure.com/give
