Wayne Pierce Cockrell

Wayne Pierce Cockrell, 85, of Jeffersonville, died Tuesday evening, August 22, 2017 at his residence.  He was born August 9, 1932 in Montgomery County to the late Frank and Eliza Marshall Donaldson Cockrell.

Wayne was a life-long resident of Montgomery County, self employed mechanic and farmer and a United States Air Force veteran.   He was an honest, hard worker and always spent time with his late wife away and at their family business.  Wayne enjoyed children, animals and most of all, his family.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include; one son, Mike Cockrell (Sandy) of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Donna Cockrell (Herman Schmitt) of Jeffersonville; one brother, Tommy Cockrell (Judy) of Mt. Sterling; three sisters, Jane McGlothin (Carl) of Mt. Sterling, Betty Richardson of Winchester and Nancy Frodge of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Wayne Schmitt, Isabel Schmitt and Bryan Puckett (Casey), all of Jeffersonville; one great grandchild, Alexander Puckett of Jeffersonville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Conn Cockrell; one brother, Charles Cockrell.

Funeral will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:00AM.  Visitation will be Friday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, both services at the Jeffersonville Assembly of God.  Burial will follow the funeral at the Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery.  Pastor William "Hoss" Pater will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Ralph Howard, Bryan Puckett, Gary Sorrell, Mike Rogers, Steven Hager, Hank Dunn and William Reffitt.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Cockrell and Herman Schmitt.
