William Henry Thurber, 68, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday morning at his residence. He was born July 26, 1943 in Troy, New York, to the late Alvah Thurber and Dorothy Laverdier.
William was a diesel mechanic for Freihofer Baking Company in Troy, New York; he tired twenty-two years ago and moved to Montgomery County to be closer to his brother. William is also an Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion and his passion was working on cars, motorcycles and riding motorcycles. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; his wife of forty-six years, Joyce Thurber of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Bill Thurber (Karla) of Brunswick, Ohio, Steven Thurber of Mt. Sterling and Tony Thurber of Ward, Arkansas; one daughter, Patty Hillebrandt of Mt. Sterling and six grandchildren, Rachel Gibson and Jeremy Gibson of Brunswick, Ohio, Jonathan Thurber and Mariana Thurber of Winchester, Samantha Hillebrandt and Noah Williams of Mt. Sterling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Thurber; four brothers, Alvah Thurber, Herbert Thurber, Albert Thurber, John Thurber and one infant sister.
